Bristol's new menu features locally sourced ingredients and flavours. Whether you're in the mood for a classic or lighter dish, sweet or savoury, there's something for everyone on the menu. Not sure where to start? Here are some of our favourite new dishes.
New starters on the menu
The truffled artichoke soup is a beautiful creamy bowl of warmth. The artichokes are simmered in a rich broth, and it is finished with a generous amount of truffle oil to give the soup a deep, savoury flavour. The dish is served with warm, crusty bread, perfect for dipping into the soup.
Is there anything better than smashed avocado and poached egg on toast? Cutting into the egg is always the best bit, as the runny yolk oozes over the avocado and toasted bread. Or battered squid rings? The classic seafood dish is in a light, crispy batter and then fried until golden, served with a tangy tartare sauce with the right amount of bite to compliment the delicate flavour of the squid.
New main meals on the menu
If you fancy a lighter meal, the superfood salad with roasted squash, apple, cranberries, lightly roasted seeds, whole grain mustard, and maple syrup dressing. It is an explosion of flavours. This dish is a silent assassin on our new winter menu. Ensure you don't overlook it, as the flavours pack a punch.
The Piri-Piri chicken is guaranteed to be one of the best sellers on the menu. The juicy chicken with a spicy kick will make your tastebuds sing. It is served with a baked sweet potato, sautéed red pepper, and grilled corn on the cob, making it another light dish yet hearty at the same time.
The buttermilk fried chicken burger has a crispy chicken fillet in a brioche bun, chipotle mayo, gem lettuce, heritage beef tomato, and triple-cooked chips. The chicken is perfectly moist, and the crispy coating brings everything together. If you prefer to eat vegan or plant-based foods, the homemade sweet potato, chickpea, and beetroot burger with hummus, gem lettuce, and tomato salsa, triple-cooked chips. Even meat eaters will love the combination of flavours.
Choose the chicken and leek pie with triple-cooked chips and green salad for a traditional dish. The crust was perfectly flaky, and the creamy filling is rich and savoury. The salad gives a refreshing contrast and crunch to the hearty pie.
The roasted squash and garlic alfredo tagliatelle perfectly balances creaminess with notes of rosemary, thyme and garlic. The roasted squash adds a touch of sweetness. To complete the dish and to mop up any left-over sauce is garlic bread.
Lastly, from the aroma alone, the dish that makes our team's mouth water is tofu and cauliflower curry. The tofu is crispy, giving it a meaty texture. Served with basmati rice, the curry has just the right amount of spice.
They say dessert leaves a lasting impression on the tastebuds. So, what would you pick? For those wanting something more rustic, the apple and forest fruit crumble has a traditional crumb and is served with homemade custard. The warmth of the crumb pairs beautifully with the tartness of the fruit and the creamy, velvety texture of the custard rounds off the dish's flavours.
The raspberry and gin cheesecake will also be popular. It's vegan and gluten-free. The dessert is a work of art, with its vibrant pink colour. The filling is delicate, and the gin adds a unique twist to the flavour, giving it a slightly tangy and refreshing taste. The crunchy base is the perfect balance with the fruit and filling.
