The only first-class cricket club in Wales that play their matches at Sophia Gardens
Glamorgan is the only Welsh first-class cricket club. They won the English County Championship competition in 1948, 1969 and 1997. Glamorgan has also beaten international teams from all the test-playing nations, including Australia, which they defeated in successive tours in 1964 and 1968. The club’s limited overs team is called simply Glamorgan. Kit colours are blue and yellow for limited-overs matches.
In 2018 the CC4 Museum of Welsh Cricket at Sophia Gardens became the first fully-accredited cricket museum in the UK. It opened in 2012 as the first sports-specific Museum in Wales and features a series of innovative interactive displays, as well as commemorative films and displays celebrating the long and proud heritage of cricket in Wales.
