Found in the suburb of Leckwith is The Cardiff City Stadium. After the Principality Stadium, it is the second-largest stadium in Cardiff and in Wales. It officially holds 33,280 supporters. It is the home of Cardiff City Football Club and the Wales national football team.
Cardiff City competes in the Championship of the English football league. Cardiff is the only team outside England to have won the FA Cup in 1927. They have won the Welsh Cup on 22 occasions, making them the second-most successful team in the competition's history behind Wrexham.
The club enjoys considerable support from both the city of Cardiff and the surrounding South Wales Valleys. "Men of Harlech", a song largely made famous by the 1964 film Zulu, which depicted a battle involving a Welsh regiment, and "I'll Be There", a take on a miner's song that was popular during the 1926 United Kingdom general strike, are both frequently sung before and during matches.
The Cardiff City Stadium is currently the home ground for the Wales National Football Team (known as the FAW - Football Association of Wales). However, some friendlies have taken place at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea. The team has qualified for the FIFA World Cup twice, in 1958 and 2022. Wales qualified for Euro 2016 in France, their first European Championship tournament.
The Cardiff City Stadium is one of the grounds the Wales Women's Football Team play at. Other matches have been played at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea and Rodney Parade in Newport. Wales Women are bidding to reach their first major tournament. The existing attendance record for a women's international football match in Wales currently stands at 5,455, but the Football Association of Wales says sales have now surpassed that figure ahead of the World Cup Qualifiers in September 2022. The FAW is aiming to attract at least 10,000 fans to the qualifier.
The Cardiff City Stadium makes an excellent concert venue. Stereophonics headlined the first gig at the stadium on 5 June 2010. Other acts have included Elton John, Rod Stewart and Bon Jovi. Little Mix and Westlife were also supposed to perform here but were cancelled because of COVID-19.

The Cardiff City Stadium is a 10-minute taxi ride from Future Inn Cardiff. Parking is available for away fans for £10 per car. Spaces are limited, so it is recommended that you arrive early.
The number 1 City Circle bus goes from in front of County Hall a 5-minute walk from the hotel and takes you directly to Leckwith Close, a 2-minute walk to the Cardiff City Stadium.
The Cardiff Bay train station is a 5-minute walk from the hotel and takes you to Cardiff Queen Street. You would need to change trains and head to Grangetown or Ninian Park station (recommended), both a further 5-minute walk to the Cardiff City Stadium.
Nextbike operates in Cardiff, and a station is at the end of Hemmingway Road, near Cardiff Bay train station, a 5-minute walk from the hotel. It would then take approximately 14-minutes to cycle to the Nextbike station at Cardiff City Stadium. There are limited bike racks at Cardiff City if you wish to use your own. Future Inn Cardiff is a cycle-friendly hotel, and we allow guests to keep bikes in your room with cycle mats supplied.
It would take around 45-minutes to walk via Sloper Road from the hotel.

Thomas Restaurant is ideal to fuel up before the event. The team serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, evening a-la-carte or traditional roasts on Sunday. A homemade Taste of Wales Afternoon Tea is served daily between 1pm-5pm or our set menu offers 3 courses for £25 daily from 5pm.
Room service is available 24 hours a day.
