Techniquest
Techniquest is the UK’s longest-established science centre
It displays science in a way that will engage and teach people of all ages. Techniquest Cardiff has a worldwide reputation for creating programmes and exhibits. It was founded in 1896 by Professor John Beetlestone and his colleagues from Cardiff University
Its first site was the gas showroom opposite Cardiff Castle. In 1988 it moved to a pre-fabricated industrial building in Cardiff Bay with 100 exhibits; it was here that it launched its education programmes for schools. In 1995 it moved to its current site, the UK’s first purpose-built science centre, in Cardiff Bay.
There are currently 120 exhibits. Including a planetarium, you can sit amongst the stars and enjoy tales and myths about the constellations. You can also launch your own rocket or make a Smoothie by riding a bike. The possibilities are endless at Techniquest.
