National Trust Dyffryn Gardens

The gardens at Dyffryn cover more than 55 acres, which is excellent for a day outdoors exploring. They were commissioned by Reginald Cory and designed by the famed Edwardian garden designer Thomas Mawson in 1906. They were developed further by coal magnate John Cory. With intimate garden rooms, formal lawns and an extensive arboretum, there's plenty for you to see. Over the next few years, the gardens are undergoing an ambitious revival to restore them to their original 1920s splendour.

Dyffryn Gardens House

The grand Victorian mansion overlooks the heart of the Edwardian gardens. Listed at grade II* status, it had been remodelled from an earlier mansion and was completed in 1892-3. The Cory family were industrialists and made their wealth through coal. The house provided a secluded family home within commutable distance of their business interests across south Wales. The house came to the National Trust in 2013 without a collection. No original belongings, pieces of furniture or art remained in the house. This has been an ongoing project, and original pieces from the time are being brought into the house.

Dyffryn Gardens Events

There are plenty of one-off events throughout the year, from galleries, gardener walks, behind-the-scenes, and the popular Winter Lights in December and January.

Is Dyffryn Gardens free? National Trust Members do get free entry. Dyffryn Gardens entry fee is from £11 for adults, £5.50 for children and £27.50 for family tickets. Free parking for all attendees.

Dyffryn Gardens Opening Times

Currently, only the gardens and cafe are open between 10am-5pm, with last entry at 4pm.
